Press Release – COVID-19 Mitigation

The Blaine County Sheriff’s Office is committed to protecting the public safety of our community. We want to reassure the public our Patrol Division will continue to provide essential law enforcement operations to serve and protect Blaine County, Idaho.

 In light of the current global situation, we feel a deep responsibility to do our part to mitigate the risk of exposure to COVID-19 for the protection of the public, our staff, and the inmates in our custody. In response, BCSO has adopted the following temporary emergency mitigation measures.

1)    Public Access to Blaine County Public Safety Facility and the Ketchum Police Division is restricted to emergencies only. Non-essential public access has been suspended. The public is encouraged to call or email for non-emergency services. A list of resources is provided below.

2)    All Inmate Visitation at the Blaine County Detention Center has been suspended except for Legal Visits effective March 15, 2020. The Work Release Program has been suspended effective March 16, 2020. Inmates sentenced to serve time on the weekends has been suspended effective March 16, 2020.

3.    All Blaine County government buildings and offices are now closed to the public. This includes Blaine County Annex Building which houses Driver’s Services and the DMV. The Idaho Transportation Department’s Division of Motor Vehicle is instituting a 90-day extension on some credentials. The public is encouraged to use the DMV’s online services. Specific information on this 90-day extension can be found at
