Blaine County believes in environmental sustainability and is making an effort to update Blaine County buildings to be more energy efficient and to create a smaller environmental impact.
The Blaine County Commissioners signed a resolution committing to powering Blaine County with 100% clean energy by 2045 and to have 100% clean electricity by 2035. Read more about the resolution here.
The solid waste district serves seven Idaho counties - Blaine, Cassia, Gooding, Lincoln, Jerome, Minidoka, and Twin Falls.
The Southern Idaho Solid Waste landfill uses a gas-to-energy system to convert the gases released by the decomposing garbage into energy. The facility produces enough energy to power about 2,000 homes in the area!
