SCRAM stands for Secure Continuous Remote Alcohol Monitoring. The SCRAM provides continuous monitoring of a client’s use of alcohol utilizing an ankle bracelet that is attached to the client with a tamper-proof strap. It is worn by the client 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
Twice an hour, the bracelet captures transdermal (through the skin) alcohol readings by sampling the insensible perspiration collected from the air above the skin. The bracelet stores the data and transmits it to the SCRAM modem. If the offender has been drinking alcohol, then the SCRAM will detect varying levels of ethanol to qualitatively determine consumption, showing whether the client has consumed a small, moderate or substantial amount of alcohol
Failure to maintain payment commitments will result in the SCRAM bracelet being removed.
If the SCRAM bracelet is removed, then the Blaine County Probation Department will notify the appropriate parties through a report of non-compliance with the requirement to be monitored on a SCRAM
