Press Release

Blaine County Sheriff’s Office

February 17, 2014

At approximately 16:00 hours on 02/16/14 the Blaine County Sheriff’s Office was called to a field on the east side of Gannet Road and south of Bay Horse Road in Bellevue for a collision with injuries between two snow mobiles.  Keith Kreczkowski, age 47 of Bellevue, Idaho collided with Nolan Kreczkowski, age 12 also of Bellevue, Idaho. Wood River Fire and Rescue, the Bellevue Fire Department and the Hailey Fire Department were also  dispatched by Blaine County Emergency Communications and responded to the scene.

Witness reports indicate that the father, son and other members of their party were taking turns on jumping the snow machines on hill in the field. Keith Kreczkowski, was traveling east and went airborne as he crested the hill colliding almost head on with Nolan who was traveling west. Both riders were apparently unaware that the other person was taking the jump from the opposite direction. The bottom of Keith’s snowmobile struck Nolan’s snowmobile in the hood/motor area and then continued to travel over the snowmobile into Nolan’s upper torso. Keith and Nolan were both knocked off their machines by the force of the collision. Both of their helmets that they were wearing also came off as a result of the impact.

Both victims were attended to by EMS. Keith was transported to St. Luke’s WRMC in Ketchum. Nolan was life-flighted to Boise due to the seriousness of injuries he sustained.

Blaine County Sheriff Gene D. Ramsey said, “This is a very tragic accident and our hearts go out to the Kreczkowski family.”
