INCIDENT: Three Vehicle Injury Crash US Hwy 20 and State Hwy 75 Junction
DATE/TIME: October 27, 2010 at approx. 1:38 PM
On the above date and time the Blaine County Communications Center was notified of a 3 vehicle crash at the US Hwy 20 and State Hwy 75 junction. Fifty three year old Gregory Cappel of Bellevue was lifeflighted from the crash scene to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise due to his injuries. Cappel's passengers, fifty one year old Denise Simone and nineteen year old Russel Simone Wilson of Bellevue were transported by ambulance to the St. Lukes Wood River Medical Center.
The three vehicles involved in the crash were a 2008 Jeep Patriot driven by fifty six year old Kenneth Ruzicka of Boise, a 2001 Chevrolet pickup driven by forty eight year old James Pickering of Shoshone and a 2006 Audi AA4 driven by fifty three year old Gregory Cappel of Bellevue.
The 2008 Jeep Patriot in the west bound lane of US Hwy 20 stopped at the stop sign and began to cross the intersection without seeing the pickup. The 2001 Chevrolet pickup was south bound on State Hwy 75 and the driver turned to the right to avoid the collision with the Jeep. The pickup then collided with the driver side of the 2006 Audi AA4 which was stopped at the stop in the east bound lane of US Hwy 20.
The Blaine County Sheriff’s Office and Wood River Fire and Rescue responded to the scene.
Kenneth Ruzicka will be cited for failure to yield.
